Missy Elliot has always been lauded for her vibrant video treatments — and this week, City Girls released their new video, “Twerkulator,” directed by the music video savant.

“This is an emergency. This is not a test. Everyone, please take shelter immediately! The Twerkulators have already invaded Twerk City, and you don’t have much time. They’ve already landed, and they’re taking over. Run for cover, motherf-ckers!” Missy’s voice warns in the beginning.

Viewers are treated to all the trappings we’d expect from a Missy video. High energy choreography. Bright colors and audacious costume designs.

“Slim thick, petite wit it/Lil’ b-tch, I’on want your man, but these rich niggas throwin’ paper/Now it’s time for the Twerkulator,” JT raps.

Yung Miami comes through with the money bars:

“F-ck all that cute sh-t, break it down for that loot, b-tch/ That paper straight? I’m a twerkulate/ At the after hours, we workin’ late/Bad b-tches on the paper chase.”

The song is a standalone single as the ladies did not get the sample cleared by the time their album, “City On Lock” was released in 2020. The track samples the 80’s classic “Planet Rock” by Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force.

After the video was released, Missy took to Instagram to tell the ladies how proud she is of them both.

“@YungMiami305 & @ThegirlJT @QCMusicMgmt I am So Humbly Grateful for the opportunity to work on the Twerkulator videoFolded hands,” they tweeted.

“They WORKED HARD & rehearsed from 11 am to 11pm. They was probably SO OVER ME saying Let’s Go… but they said we will do it,” she continued, adding, “Thank yall.”
