Police are investigating after a 21-year-old woman was fatally shot inside her Queens apartment Friday night, Sept. 12, in what authorities believe was a targeted attack.
The victim, identified as Dashanna Donovan, was found with a gunshot wound to the head shortly after 9:20 p.m. at a residential building on 96th Street between Astoria Boulevard and 30th Avenue in East Elmhurst, according to the NYPD. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say Donovan was chased into her apartment by a man before being shot. The suspect fled immediately after the attack and has not yet been identified. No arrests have been made.

Crime Trends in the 115th Precinct
Donovan’s killing marks what may be the sixth homicide in the 115th Precinct so far this year. By this time in 2024, there had been just two.
Despite the rise in murders, overall crime in the precinct is down by 23% compared to last year, NYPD data shows.
