Dreka Gates and Kevin Gates’s divorce has taken a turn for the worse, both emotionally and financially. Recently unveiled court documents indicate that Dreka is seeking over $70,000 each month in child and spousal support following her divorce filing from the Louisiana artist in July.
The documents claim that Kevin significantly undermined their family’s financial stability in late 2021 by neglecting to pay for crucial household expenses, including property taxes and their children’s private school fees.
Dreka states that she has been managing everything for their two children, Islah, who is 12, and Khaza, who is 11, while Kevin has been living extravagantly, reportedly buying 18 luxury cars and a lavish Calabasas home valued at $4.7 million while overlooking essential family obligations.
Further complicating matters, their once cherished farm in Mississippi is now reportedly at risk of foreclosure due to a $7 million tax lien from the IRS for unpaid taxes. In her legal request, Dreka is seeking $27,193 in child support and $46,274 in spousal support each month. She is also requesting primary custody of their children, noting that they have primarily lived with her for the past year.
The couple, who were married in October 2015, have been regarded as one of the more unconventional pairs in the hip-hop scene. Fans admired their devoted partnership and Dreka’s role in supporting Kevin’s career for many years. However, recent years have revealed signs of strain in their relationship, with speculation about a split surfacing before their official announcement.
Although Kevin has not publicly addressed these latest developments, it’s evident that he may soon need to dig deep into his finances.
