VOGUE’s most recent cover star Erykah Badu is schooling ladies about how to attract men – and it’s not how you think.
An urban legend says that men can’t look Badu in the eyes without falling in love. And on a recent episode of the Tamron Hall Show, the Didn’t Cha Know songstress explained that, yes, her magic was in her eyes, but also in between her ears.
“A lot has been said about your bedroom, the mystical powers. … You are keenly aware of the urban legend that men can’t look you in the eye without falling in love,” Hall told Badu.
“Women too—and children and animals. … Any living, breathing thing,” Badu replied. “I think it’s indescribable. In the bedroom, that’s not where you’re gonna find it, because my magic doesn’t lie between my thighs, it lies between my ears.”
The show’s producer also played a clip from VOGUE’s Objects of Affection, where she shared her home and studio, which she called the “Badudio.” During the clip, Badu gave viewers an inside look of her bedroom, where she says she conjures up “bedroom powers.”
In 2020, Badu told Rolling Stone that “there’s an urban legend that my pussy changes men. The men that I fall in love with, and fall in love with me, change jobs and lives.”
The 51-year-old is currently single but has been romantically linked to some of the biggest stars in entertainment, including Jay Electronica, André 3000, and Common.
Common, in particular, has not been shy to talk about his former lady’s mystique and why he was drawn to her when they dated back in the early 2000s.
“Yeah, the ‘Badu Box’ is real,” Common said in a 2014 interview. “It can take you to another universe. But seriously that’s when you meet somebody that’s real special and you’re like, ‘Man, this woman got…she got something else, man.’ It ain’t just the sex. It ain’t just the looks. It’s like something that’s kind of like spirit-wise, where you’re like, ‘This woman got something else.’”
