In a recent House of Representatives hearing, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett delivered a powerful statement that resonated with many.
During her remarks, Crockett addressed the motivations behind the hearing, suggesting that it was initiated due to hurt feelings rather than substantive issues.
She took aim at Project 2025 and former President Trump during a House Oversight Committee hearing that was scrutinizing policies from the Biden administration.
“The only reason we’re having this hearing is because somebody got their feelings hurt in a debate,” she asserted, questioning the use of taxpayer dollars for what she deemed a trivial matter.
She went on to challenge her colleagues directly, urging them to be prepared to engage with women in leadership, stating:
“Tell your big boy to show up and be ready to handle the woman in the room who hopefully will become the next president of the United States.”
Crockett further stressed her point by critiquing the prevailing political climate, highlighting issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
She remarked:
“This election is the best example of why y’all are so afraid of diversity, equity, and inclusion, because then you can’t have a simple-minded white man somehow end up ascending. Instead, you’ve got to pay attention to the qualified Black woman that is on the other side.”
Her comments underline a broader conversation about representation and the barriers faced by women, particularly women of color, in politics.
Crockett’s passionate speech not only challenges the status quo but also champions the importance of inclusive leadership in the political arena.
