Mexican influencer Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, known to her followers as Esmeralda FG on TikTok, has died at the age of 32 in a case that has shocked both local communities and her online audience.
Authorities confirmed that Garibay, her 36-year-old husband, and their two children, ages 13 and 7, were found dead inside a pickup truck abandoned in the San Andrés neighborhood of Guadalajara on Aug. 22. Prosecutor Alfonso Gutiérrez Santillán said the bodies were discovered wrapped in plastic.
According to Mexican newspaper El Financiero, investigators initially arrested three men who worked at a nearby mechanic shop where the vehicle had been abandoned. However, they were later released due to insufficient evidence. Officials say the investigation remains ongoing.
From Lip-Sync Clips to Lifestyle Content
Garibay first joined TikTok in April 2020, starting with comedic lip-sync videos before transitioning into lifestyle and travel content. Over time, she amassed more than 43,000 followers who regularly engaged with her posts.
Her final upload, dated Aug. 7, showed her driving on her ranch. In another recent post, she shared a playful clip of her white dog running across her lawn.
Following news of her death, the comments section of her profile became a space for tributes from fans and followers. “May God have mercy on her and her family 💔 Something you don’t wish on anyone…” one follower wrote in Spanish.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities in Jalisco state have not disclosed a motive in the killings.
The violent deaths have raised concerns over public safety in Guadalajara and added to the growing list of influencers and public figures affected by violence in Mexico.
For now, Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay’s digital footprint remains as a reminder of the life she shared online — one cut short, along with that of her husband and children, under tragic and unresolved circumstances.
