Jazmine Sullivan dropped out of Afropunk Brooklyn in August following her mother’s death and is still in mourning as 2023 comes to an end.

More than five months after the death of her mother, Pamela, the Grammy winner announced on social media that her grandmother had also passed away.

On July 24, the Insecure hitmaker took to social media to let her fans know that her mother, Pam Sullivan, had died.

Pam Sullivan passed away after a four-year battle with breast cancer, first diagnosed in 2019.

After the death of her mother, the two-time Grammy Award winner canceled her performance at the Atlanta Funk Festival and dropped her headliner spot at the 2023 Afropunk Brooklyn Festival later that month.

During an appearance on the PEOPLE Every Day podcast last year, Jazmine Sullivan shared how her mother’s cancer battle ‘improved’ their relationship.

“We’ve definitely gotten closer. Obviously, you appreciate people more if you even think that you could lose them, but I’ve been able to reciprocate the love and support that she’s given me all my life back to her. And I’m so fulfilled doing that,” the award-winning vocalist disclosed.

Celebrating her mother’s death with her following, Sullivan wrote, “I don’t have the words yet, mommy. So for now, I’ll say thank you, thank you, thank you. Rest now, butterfly. [Butterfly emoji] 10/26/58- 07/22/23.”

On Friday, December 29, Jazmine Sullivan took to her official Instagram account to share a series of posts announcing her grandmother’s passing

In the first post, the singer shared a photo that seemed to be from her childhood. The 36-year-old singer added a reflective tribute.

“Rest now, grandmom. I know Mommy is so happy to see you! These women are the very reason I sing and write. The reason I’m funny and sassy. The reason I say what I mean according to my conviction. The reason I love God! And the reason I’m strong even when I don’t think I am,” she wrote on her Instagram story.

Fans tropped in, sending prayers of love and support to the singer.
