Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson Reveals Harvard Drama Class Moment with Matt Damon

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson recently shared an intriguing tidbit from her Harvard University days.

In a September 1 interview on CBS Sunday Morning, Jackson revealed that she and renowned actor Matt Damon were paired as scene partners in a drama class during their time at Harvard.

Jackson, who made history as the first Black woman to sit on the Supreme Court, recounted performing a scene from Samuel Beckett’s play Waiting for Godot with Damon.

Despite Damon’s early fame on campus, Jackson remembered the experience vividly, especially when the professor praised her performance while noting that Damon’s performance needed improvement.

“I was like, ‘Oh my god, I was better than Matt Damon in a scene,’” Jackson told CBS News’s Norah O’Donnell.

Damon, who left Harvard before graduating, went on to achieve major success in Hollywood with films like Good Will Hunting, The Martian, and Saving Private Ryan.

Although Damon admitted to the Associated Press in 2022 that he did not recall the specific performance, he found the story “so cool.”
