Kamala Harris, the vice-presidential nominee for the Democratic party, found herself the target of another one of President Doland Trump’s bitter rants.
“Kamala. Kamala. You know, if you don’t pronounce her name exactly right, she gets very angry at you,” Trump said at a campaign rally in Arizona, working hard to portray her as a stereotypical angry Black woman.
“And then she starts — you know what she does when she gets angry? She starts laughing. Like she did on 60 Minutes. Uncontrollable laughs. That means she’s angry,” the president told hundreds of his supporters at the Phoenix Goodyear Airport.
Trump’s administration has wasted no time firing jabs at Harris, going out of their way to mock and mispronounce her name — but the former California prosecutor is keeping her eyes on the prize.
Harris met with African American leaders in Phoenix, Latina business owners in Tucson during the drive-in rallies.
She spoke with reporters about the recent protests in Philadelphia over the killing of Black man, Walter Wallace Jr. She says Joe Biden would work to address issues confronting minorities.
“Part of the reason that people are marching in the streets is that there has not been the level of attention, especially recently over the last few years, that is necessary from the president of the United States. And Joe’s committed to that,” Harris said per AZCentral.com.
Harris also responded to claims by the GOP that she is pushing a “socialist” agenda.
“You know, there has been some talk about my values. Well, let me just tell you — I am a proud, patriotic American. I love my country and our values reflect the values of America,” she told her supporters.
So far, Biden is ahead in the polls, but with the election just days away, everything is on the line.
