Joe Biden has chosen Sen. Kamala Harris to be his running mate in the upcoming elections in November.

“I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate,” Biden wrote in a tweet on Tuesday.

Harris also released an announcement via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.

“.@JoeBiden can unify the American people because he’s spent his life fighting for us. And as president, he’ll build an America that lives up to our ideals,” she wrote. “I’m honored to join him as our party’s nominee for Vice President, and do what it takes to make him our Commander-in-Chief.”

It has been widely reported that Biden wanted a Black woman as a running mate. Harris has remained the frontrunner for the former vice president but other names have also been thrown into the hat, including Stacy Abrams.

If elected, Harris will be the first woman, the first Asian American and the first Black vice president in the history of the country.

President Trump has already begun his hate campaign against the VP pick.

During a press conference at the White House, he called her treatment of Brett Kavanaugh during his Supreme Court confirmation hearing “extraordinarily nasty.”

“I won’t forget that soon,” Trump told reporters. “It’s hard to pick somebody that’s that disrespectful,” Trump said, adding: “I thought she was the meanest, the most horrible, most disrespectful of anybody in the U.S. Senate.”

Trump’s relations with Black women are already at an all-time low. Be prepared for the smear campaign of the century from his supporters.

But we’re happy for her. Congrats, Kamala!
