Kaylah Love: 16-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Park Under Bizarre Circumstances: ‘She’s Not A Statistic’

by Gee NY

The family of 16-year-old Kaylah Love is seeking justice after the Chicago teen was found dead in a West Side park last week.

They claim police failed to act on a 911 call made the night before her body was discovered, raising concerns about the officers’ response.

Kaylah, a student at Manley Career Academy High School with aspirations of becoming a chef, was found beaten at the 3000 block of West Van Buren. A relative, Kenyatta Euring, grief-stricken and determined, told ABC 7 Chicago:

“She’s not a statistic. She’s a young lady who should still be here with us.”

Family members say a 911 call was placed about a fight in the park, and officers allegedly drove by but never exited their vehicle.

“We don’t know for sure, but she could have been dead or dying when they pulled up, and there may have been an opportunity to save her life,” Euring added.

Community members gathered at the park where Kaylah was found, demanding accountability.

“No mother should have to bury her child,” a neighbor said during the vigil.

Chicago officials have confirmed an internal investigation into the officers’ response.

Meanwhile, police have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with Kaylah’s death, according to CBS News. Her family continues to plead for answers.

“She deserves to be here,” another relative said.
