Keke Palmer: ‘Donald Trump is Inciting a Race War’

by Yah Yah

Keke Palmer is the latest celeb to speak out against President Donald Trump’s bizarre reign as commander in chief, and says that she believes he is trying to incite a “race war.”

“I think President Trump plays into it too. He’s inciting a race war. His craziness is inspiring us to just really get him the f*ck out!,” Palmer told Cosmopolitan magazine. “It’s like we needed somebody who riled us up so much for us to be activated to the point of saying, “Oh, hell no. I can’t let this guy continue. I have to do something. I have to find a way to let my voice be heard and to let people know that I’m not with this.”

Palmer has always been vocal, but her activism made headlines across the nation last month when she faced down the US National Guard, convincing during a protest march in Los Angeles.

“I don’t know if you on social media, because the news don’t tell you everything, but you have to pay attention to what’s going on. … We have a president that’s trying to incite a race war. And when the borders are closed, we can’t leave. You have people in here that need your help. This is when you and y’all stand together with the community, with society, to stop … the governmental oppression. Period. We need you,” she implored.

Palmer ured the guardsmen to march alongside the protestors, and although they refused to march, several guardsmen took a knee in a show of solidarity.

The actress says the gesture simply “wasn’t enough.”

“George Floyd died because somebody kneeled on his neck. I’m not looking for you to kneel. I’m not looking for a moment. I’m looking for us to stand together. If now isn’t the time to do it, then when is? Because there was a time when standing up to the slave master seemed crazy as hell too,” she explained.

Palmer has been lauded as an activist by millions, but she’s reluctant to claim the title.

“I know I have a platform, but at the end of the day, I’m not the political person that lives and breathes this day in, day out or an activist that lives and breathes this day in, day out,” she maintains. “I don’t have all the answers, I just speak to what I believe in. Let’s speak our voice. Let’s not let up.”
