Beyoncé has a new admirer in town, and he’s got a crown. King Charles III declared Beyoncé “so exceptional” and “incomparable” during his March 10 Apple Music 1 radio special, The King’s Music Room, showering the global icon with a royal stamp of approval that’s set the internet abuzz.
King Charles created “The King’s Music Room” in honor of Commonwealth Day, saying in his introduction, “This is what I particularly wanted to share with you in this collection—songs which have brought me joy.”
He continued, “They evoke many different styles and many different cultures. But all of them, like the family of Commonwealth nations, in their many different ways share the same love of life, in all its richness and diversity.”
The royal monarch presented a playlist with some of his favorite songs in his Apple Music broadcast. While the initial 15 tracks were all performed by artists from the Commonwealth, King Charles appears to have reserved his favorite for the end.
The British sovereign revealed himself as a card-carrying member of the BeyHive, confessing that her 2003 hit “Crazy in Love” holds a permanent spot on his playlist.
“I’ll leave you, if I may, with two final songs,” Charles told listeners. “First from a performer so exceptional that I just could not resist including her music. She performed this song at the then Prince’s Trust Fashion Rocks concert in the Royal Albert Hall in 2003…the incomparable Beyoncé, with the song ‘Crazy In Love.'”
The King also praised her for her recent Album of the Year GRAMMY victory for ‘Cowboy Carter.’
“I wanted to include an iconic musical moment from the many events which supported my trust’s work over the years. I would like to congratulate her for winning her first Album of the year Grammy.”
After he’d played “Crazy in Love,” Charles presented the last song, referring to it as “one of my personal favorites.” “It is ‘Upside Down’ by Diana Ross, and when I was much younger, it was absolutely impossible not to get up and dance when it was played!” he explained.
Queen Bey’s incredible artistry definitely left a lasting impression on the King!
