Lil Kim has revealed that she would like to go hit-for-hit with Nicki Minaj in a Verzuz battle.
Kim made the revelation on the red carpet for this Sunday’s BET Awards.
Kim was asked whether she’d be down to do a Verzuz battle. Kim said “yes.” When she was asked who she’d like to face-off against, she answered, “Nicki.”
Fans think a Lil Kim and Nicki Verzuz would be a great match-up. We now have to wait and see whether Nicki will accept the challenge.
Kim and Nicki famously had beef during the beginning of the latter’s career. In 2018, Kim revealed that she was beyond all of the drama.
“Why isn’t this about Kim? If we gon’ mention one female [rapper] we need to mention them all. We need to bring everybody [into the conversation], and we need to give everybody love,” she said during an interview with Real 92.3.
She continued, “God bless her, I wish her the best. I’m past that I’m over it…. She did what she did, until she’s ready, hopefully, God puts it on her mind to do the right thing because she knows what she did. Once that happens, hopefully everyone will stop asking me [about Nicki].”
There are some that say that Nicki has mirrored much of Kim’s style and accused Nicki of not paying homage. In the past, Nicki has shown love to Lil Kim, but for some… it wasn’t enough.
Nicki’s last album was even titled “Queen.” One of Kim’s rap moniker’s is the “Queen Bee.”
During the interview, Kim said she was unbothered about that too.
“I don’t really care about that either. I was named that, I never named myself that. It’s a difference. When the streets name you that, Biggie named me that. I didn’t name myself that. When you gotta name yourself, that’s a whole different thing, I would never name myself that,” she explained.
