Rookie sensation Angel Reese has been fined by the WNBA following the Chicago Sky’s game against the Indiana Fever, but not for reasons most fans might expect.

The league announced that Reese was fined $1,000 for not attending postgame media obligations, while the Sky were hit with a $5,000 fine.

This penalty comes despite the heated moment during the game when Reese appeared to applaud a cheap shot foul by her teammate Chennedy Carter on Caitlin Clark.

However, the league has not taken any disciplinary action against Reese for her reaction to the foul.

Tensions have been brewing between Reese and Clark over recent months, despite Reese’s earlier statements that any rivalry was limited to the court.

The frustration from the loss to the Fever seemed to get to Reese, who, earning just under $74,000 annually (excluding endorsements), decided to skip talking to reporters.

Adding to the drama, Reese recently posted and then deleted a tweet that seemed to take a jab at Clark, implying that her team’s success was due to their teamwork rather than relying on “one player on our charter flight.”

The tweet went viral before its deletion, fueling speculation that the animosity between Reese and Clark runs deeper than just on-court competition.

For Indiana Fever fans, there’s a silver lining: the league upgraded the foul on Clark from a common foul to a flagrant-1 violation against Carter.

However, Carter has not been fined or suspended.

As the Chicago Sky prepare to face the Indiana Fever again on June 16, fans should brace for an intense showdown.
