A horrifying incident unfolded outside a Brooklyn deli over the weekend, resulting in the tragic death of a young woman and leaving her twin sister wounded, all because of a refusal to follow a man on Instagram.
The victims, Samyia Spain and Sanyia Spain, both 19 years old, were viciously attacked by a man outside the Slope Natural Plus bodega in Brooklyn, according to police reports.
Samyia lost her life in the attack! While Sanyia sustained injuries.
The twins, accompanied by their older brother, had visited the deli for a late-night snack after a family game night.
Trouble began when they noticed a man following Samyia, whom they had met earlier at a local club.
Sanyia recounted the events leading up to the fatal encounter, stating:
“She said she wasn’t going to follow him back. That’s it. She said no.”
The altercation escalated inside the bodega, with the man becoming agitated after Samyia refused to follow him back on Instagram.
Despite attempts to defuse the situation, the man returned armed with a knife.
“He had a knife in his hand and was saying, ‘I’m gonna stab y’all in the face,’” Sanyia recalled.
The confrontation turned violent as the man attacked Samyia, ultimately resulting in her tragic death.
Sanyia also suffered stab wounds but survived the ordeal.
The sisters, both born in Brooklyn and with ties to North Carolina, were rushed to New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
Sadly, Samyia succumbed to her injuries, while Sanyia received medical treatment and was later discharged.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Samyia’s murder.
Police are actively investigating the incident and are searching for two men, one of whom was reportedly wearing a ski mask.
The tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning, prompting calls for justice and increased safety measures to prevent such senseless violence from occurring again.
