Liyah-Grace Holsey, a fifth-grader at Mary Moore Elementary School, was struck by two cars near Park Springs Boulevard and West Sublett Road.

The tragic accident occurred as Liyah-Grace was walking home from school, marking the end of a regular school day.

Officials have determined the incident to be an accident, with no charges filed against the drivers involved. Arlington Police Sgt. Courtney White informed NBCDFW that the drivers had the green light at the intersection.

The area around Park Springs Boulevard and West Sublett Road has been described by local residents as busy, with a history of frequent crashes.

Bryan Seely, a resident, expressed concerns about the safety of the intersection, mentioning a prevalence of fast-moving cars and street racing. Another resident, Leslie Balboa, shared similar sentiments, noting incidents of red light running.

Despite the drivers staying at the scene and cooperating with authorities, the tragic loss of Liyah-Grace Holsey has left the community devastated.

The Arlington Independent School District (AISD) released a statement expressing the deep grief felt by everyone in the district, particularly those at Mary Moore Elementary School.

The statement highlighted Liyah-Grace as a wonderful student who had a passion for singing and actively participated in the school choir. The school pledged support by making counselors available for students and faculty affected by the tragedy.

In response to this heartbreaking incident, Liyah-Grace’s family has created a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for her funeral arrangements. As of the latest update, the campaign has garnered nearly $26,000.

The family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and described Liyah-Grace as a vibrant girl loved by many.

They recalled her love for taking pictures and highlighted her inquisitive nature.

The AISD and the community at large mourn the loss of Liyah-Grace Holsey and extend their condolences and support to her grieving family.
