‘My Face is Different Now’: Woman Brutally Attacked by Pitbull for 10 Minutes While Taking a Walk

by Gee NY

An Oak Cliff woman, Toni Hudson, is recovering at home after a vicious pit bull attack left her with life-altering injuries and shattered teeth.

Hudson, who spent five days in the hospital, is now appealing to the public for assistance to cover medical bills, dental work, counseling, and lost income.

Hudson does not have health insurance, so she has launched a GoFundMe campaign titled Help Toni Recover After Pitbull Attack to raise funds for her ongoing treatment.

The Attack

The incident occurred on January 7 while Hudson was taking a routine morning walk in her Oak Cliff neighborhood near Marfa Avenue. According to Hudson, an unleashed pit bull ran out of a yard and attacked her.

“The dog ain’t on a chain or nothing,” Hudson said. “He ran out the gate when he attacked me.”

Hudson recounted that the dog initially knocked her to the ground, breaking several teeth, before biting and shaking her face. She estimates the attack lasted approximately 10 minutes in total. During the ordeal, the dog also snapped her finger in half.

Passersby attempted to intervene, with one driver honking their car horn in an effort to distract the dog. Despite their efforts, Hudson sustained severe injuries to her face and hands.

Hudson Speaks Out

“I’m not me no more,” Hudson said tearfully in an interview shortly after leaving the hospital. “This is really, really hard.”

The 29-year-old’s story underscores concerns about dog attacks, particularly involving pit bulls and other strong breeds, and highlights the potential consequences of owners failing to leash their animals in public spaces.

Call for Support

Hudson’s GoFundMe campaign has already garnered community attention, with supporters sharing messages of encouragement and donations.

She is seeking help to cover medical expenses, reconstructive dental work, therapy, and lost wages as she embarks on a long recovery.
