Former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes posted a message to all of the men who have been sliding into her DMs and shoot their shot following the death of her husband, Gregg Leakes.
“Thank you to everybody. All the gentleman that have been in my DMs, thank y’all too,” NeNe wrote via Instagram. “I’m just over here doing me right now, but hey!” she added. “I love reading the messages. They are inspiring to say the least. Thank you.”
Gregg died “peacefully” on Sept. 1, according to publicist and longtime family friend Ernest Dukes.
“Today the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife Nene Leakes,” said Dukes. “We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family & allow them to mourn in private during this very very difficult time.”
Gregg was diagnosed with colon cancer in June of 2018.
In July, NeNe shared that Gregg was back at home — six weeks after he was admitted for treatment related to the return of his cancer.
“I was suppose to be hosting The Talk today,” NeNe responded to a fan who asked her why she had been missing in action. “But I got good news that Gregg was coming home after being hospitalized 6 weeks.”
Speaking to The Jasmine Brand weeks prior, she said: “He’s been in the hospital for a week, tomorrow. I’m sure he’ll be home in about a week or so. He had to have a surgery,” she shared. “He’s super small,” she said. “If you’ve ever been around somebody who’s had cancer before, he’s different. He’s different.”
NeNe is now reportedly selling their Atlanta home.
