Teyana Taylor is not holding back about how actor Aaron Pierre has become her rock, her creative partner, and the man who finally takes her out of survival mode.
In a heartfelt Complex interview, the multihyphenate star gushed about their deep connection, comparing herself to a delicate cup of tea in his care.
“It allows me to feel warm and to feel safe, and not be in survival mode,” Taylor shared with a quiet smile, clearly smitten.
The “Rose in Harlem” singer didn’t just talk love, though. She spoke deeply about the role Pierre played in her latest artistic endeavor, her upcoming album Escape Room. According to Taylor, Pierre was so involved and tuned in that he “damn near EP’ed it.”
“It felt good to have someone be as passionate and as serious as you are,” she said, reflecting on how rare that kind of alignment can be. “To have someone on your side fully, hear you, and not think that your visions are crazy… That’s powerful.”
But what really took fans out was the metaphor she used to explain her emotional needs and how Pierre handles her with care.
“I’m really big on how you handle me. You’ve got to handle me like a cup of tea,” she explained. “How would you walk with a cup of tea versus how you’d walk with a bottle of water? With a cup of tea, you walk slower, you’re more calm, more delicate, even when you sip it. What happens when you sip tea too fast? You burn your tongue. So I am a cup of tea.”

Their rumored romance first began to bubble earlier this year, with sightings at the ABFF Honors and the BET Awards. But the whispers turned into a full-on scream when Taylor posted a birthday tribute to Pierre, writing, “Cheers to Thirty-WON & many more wins around the sun.”
Then came the kiss. At Aaron Pierre’s surprise birthday celebration, organized by Teyana herself, the pair sealed the night with a kiss, all but confirming what fans had already figured out: This is love.
