Toni nominated actress Hailey Kilgore has joined the cast of Starz’s “Power” prequel series “Power Book III: Raising Kanan.”
According to The Wrap, Kilgore will play a younger version of Jukebox, a series regular. Anika Noni Rose originally played the role in the original series.
The prequel series to “Power” the character of Kanan Stark as a youth. The character was originally played by executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
Kilgore’s Jukebox is described as “a quick-witted, fiercely independent and strong teenage girl who hangs with the boys and takes no shit. She is Kanan’s confidant – they keep each other’s secrets and always have each other’s backs. Jukebox is determined to forge her own path, scrapping and hustling to make money to launch her music career.”
The actress will star alongside Tony winner Patina Miller, Mekai Curtis, and Omar Epps.
“Raising Kanan” is the third “Power” spin-off.
“In television history, only a select few shows have inspired four consecutive series extensions, launched into active production and development at the same time,” Starz’s new president and CEO Jeffrey Hirsch said in a statement last month. “These new and exciting chapters will continue the journey of some of Power’s most controversial characters while featuring a growing ensemble of complex, distinct characters along with the high-octane drama that set Power in a class of its own.”
