Authorities have confirmed the tragic fate of Alexis Schuller, a mother of three whose remains were discovered in a makeshift tomb inside a Capitol Heights home, bringing a heartbreaking end to a nine-day search.
Schuller was last seen entering Devonte Gray’s residence on Larchmont Avenue on Jan. 10, 2025—but never emerged. Her disappearance, officially reported in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 14, sparked an investigation that led police back to Gray’s home.
Horrific Discovery Under the Stairs

On Sunday, officers executed a search warrant and made a gruesome discovery—Schuller’s remains were hidden beneath fresh drywall, in a plastic container, encased in concrete, and covered with soil and hay.
Court documents reveal that surveillance footage captured Gray repeatedly leaving and returning to the home in the days following Schuller’s disappearance, bringing in cleaning and construction materials—a chilling timeline that led police to suspect foul play.
Adding to the heartbreak, authorities disclosed that police had been called to Gray’s home multiple times for domestic incidents—most recently just one day before Schuller was last seen.
“We wish we had been a day or two early,” a grieving family member lamented, mourning a loss that could not be undone.
Schuller’s three children are now left without their mother, a void her family says can never be filled.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are piecing together the events leading to Schuller’s tragic death, ensuring that justice is served for a woman whose life was cut short too soon.
