Remembering Elise Finch: A Fond Farewell to CBS New York’s Beloved Meteorologist

Funeral arrangements have been scheduled to honor the beloved CBS New York meteorologist, Elise Finch, whose passing touched the hearts of many, evoking an overwhelming show of support.

A public wake in remembrance of Finch, a cherished member of the CBS team for 16 years, will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday at Macedonia Baptist Church, located at 141 South 9th Ave. in Mount Vernon. The Mayor of Mount Vernon, Shawyn Patterson-Howard, shared the service information on her Facebook page.

Following the wake, a celebration of Elise Finch’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, also at Macedonia Baptist Church. The service will be streamed live for the public to pay their respects.

In the wake of her passing, the CBS New York team issued an announcement, acknowledging Elise’s exceptional professionalism and caring approach to her work. They also praised her significant contributions as an ambassador in the community.

Elise Finch was renowned for her role as a meteorologist at WCBS New York, and prior to joining CBS, she showcased her talents on the “Early Today Show,” MSNBC, and NBC Weather Plus. Her broadcasting journey began with coordinating special projects and live events for E! Entertainment Television.

Having graduated from Mount Vernon High School in her hometown, Elise went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree at Georgetown University. Later, she earned a Master of Science degree in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University and received a seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society.

Elise Finch is survived by her daughter Grace and her husband Graig Henriques, a photojournalist at WCBS.

Numerous condolences from colleagues and fellow journalists have been pouring in from various stations. WCBS co-anchor Chris Wragge, who had the privilege of working with Finch on the morning news, expressed his grief on Twitter, reminiscing about their unmatched camaraderie and musical wits, stating that her absence leaves a profound void in their team.
