Meghan Markle thought she was sharing an entertaining kitchen tip on how to cut pineapples, but the internet had other ideas.
On May 30, the Duchess of Sussex shared a brief clip from her Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan”. In the scene, she was chopping fruit with wellness expert Randi Karin when she casually revealed what she called her pineapple “hack.” Instead of cutting the pineapple into traditional chunks, Meghan demonstrated how to slice it diagonally to create bite-sized wedges. She appeared genuinely enthusiastic about the technique, saying, “When nature has given you all the cues on how to have a perfect taste of something!”
Karin tried it out and agreed that it worked beautifully. Meghan’s delight was evident as she exclaimed, “How fun is that? I love it!”
Adorable, right? Well, not everyone felt the same way.
Instantly, people online pointed out that this tip wasn’t anything new. Many stated that it had been circulating on TikTok and Instagram for years. Sarcasm quickly followed. One critic quipped, “In the next episode, Meghan shows us how to peel a banana.” Another added, “Next week: how to boil water without burning the pot.”
The criticism didn’t stop there, as even media figures like Megyn Kelly weighed in. Kelly reminded everyone that pineapples have different meanings in certain contexts, commenting, “I thought the pineapple was the international sign for swingers.”
What was intended to be a wholesome kitchen moment for Meghan transformed into a topic for memes.
Nevertheless, some viewers acknowledged that the method did look simple and enjoyable. For anyone who has faced challenges slicing pineapple neatly, Meghan’s tip could be worth a try.
Regardless, the pineapple conversation had social media buzzing all weekend long.
Is Meghan offering helpful advice or just recycling old TikTok trends? And, more importantly… will you give her pineapple hack a shot the next time you’re in the kitchen?
