Whoopi Goldberg was the definition of class when she wished Meghan McCain farewell after the Conservative daytime co-host announced her departure from the show.
Goldberg and McCain’s clashes have gone viral more than a few times. And while Goldberg had to “woosah” openly on live television many a time, she says it was an “honor” to set across from McCain each morning.
“Your dad was very smart. He wanted you to be here with us because I think he thought we could help toughen you up for what was coming.” She added, “It was an honor when he said, ‘Please take my child,” the actress told McCain.
“Before I came onto the show, I didn’t want to join the show, as I think I’ve talked about in the past, and it was my dad who encouraged me to do it,” McCain shared. “He said that I could never give up an opportunity to work on such an iconic show and to work with Whoopi Goldberg and he was right. It was one of the last things he told me to do before he died.”
Goldberg also confirmed that the late senator, John McCain, advised the ladies that his daughter would be a “pain in the ass.”
“He told me to take it easy on Meghan, that I would learn to love her and understand her, and that she would be a pain in the ass, and he was right about all of those things.” Sunny Hostin added.
Joy Behar also had nothing but good things to say.
“You and I have had our disagreements, we’ve had our fights, we also had some drinking moments which were rather fun and interesting,” she began. “But I have to say that we have in common, you and I have in common as do all of us here, we’re on a show where we stick our necks out, we take the blowback, we take a lot of hits on this show and we stick by our points of view.”
Speculation is already brewing as to who will replace McCain on the show. Tamar Braxton seems interested in the gig?
