A leading sneaker and streetwear retailer has recently launched a campaign celebrating the achievements of women who have dominated in male-dominated industries.
SNIPES, one of the US and Europe’s largest providers of sneakers and urban apparel, has officially launched “Breaking Ceilings,” a series featuring four women currently at the top of the STEM, sports, music and the entertainment industries.
Women’s History Month is an important time to recognize and celebrate the contributions of women throughout history,” Paula Barbosa, SNIPES’ VP of Marketing said in a press release. “We want to take this opportunity to highlight the amazing achievements of women in our communities who are breaking barriers and inspiring others to do the same.”
The first of four videos in the series features Scottie Beam, an American media personality and model. The other women featured include the executive director at STE(A)M Truck, Dr. Marsha Francis; WNBA New York Liberty forward Didi Richards and famed disc jockey, known infamously as DJ Saige.
In addition to the video series, the retailer has partnered with community organizations designed to empower and support women through digital and STEM programming.
The program will kick off with young women headed to college from the Pure Heart Foundation.
The program will begin in Detroit at the Crack the Code lab and will be led by CODE313, then continue in New Jersey and New York, with a collaboration with E-CODE, the Boys and Girls Club of Jersey City and Our Hudson Gardens Crack the Code computer lab. The program will end in Atlanta at The Ivy Prep Girls Academy.
