Cardi B has responded to critics who questioned her decision to return to the gym just weeks after giving birth to her third child.

The “WAP” hitmaker, who recently welcomed her third child, responded to the backlash on social media with a candid look into her postpartum journey and mental health.

The drama began when Cardi shared a video of her workout on social media. Fans immediately expressed their concerns about her rushing back into exercise. Some questioned her safety in being so active just over a week after giving birth.

“Since I’m off tonight, I’m doing a late-night gym session. No heavy lifting, no weight, just straight [StairMaster] until next week, and I start with [my trainer, Plemmie Lawson],” she captioned her Instagram Story. “Remember, ladies, this is my third baby. With my other two babies, I was still on bed rest [during] my first week postpartum.”

“It’s personal,” Cardi said in a separate post, revealing that she burned 241 calories in 30 minutes.

An X user wrote, “It’s barely been a week. Yoh, the pressure women in the industry are under? Insane,” reacting to the video of Cardi working out.

Cardi was ready to respond, taking X to directly reply and explain her postpartum experience.

“This is my third baby, and postpartum is a little different from my first two,” she began. “I’m not doing heaving lifting, no muscle straining, squatting, none of that… just cardio. Sometimes, to avoid postpartum depression, you gotta keep your mind busy, and for me, that’s work and staying active.”

Cardi B continued, “But you know what’s funny?? Y’all dragged me down when I gained 15 pounds because I was 5 months pregnant but now yall fake concerned and wanna talk about pressure??? Y’all said I was pregnant to avoid working now that you see I’m still at it it’s something else??.

“So, yeah. I’m taking this personal, but its FOR ME because either way, y’all are gonna have something to say.”

As always, Cardi B remains unapologetically herself, shutting down the haters and showing that she’s in control of her own narrative.
