Single Mom Transforms Bank Building Into Shelter for Hurricane Helene Victims

by Gee NY

Latunya Wright, a Missouri entrepreneur and single mother, has turned her recently purchased bank building into a temporary housing facility for victims of Hurricane Helene.

Wright, who owns Wright Financial Bank, is offering shelter to those displaced by the storm, focusing on families with children and the elderly.

In a heartfelt social media post, Wright shared her desire to help, saying:

“I want to use my bank as a housing shelter for the people affected by Hurricane Helene. A lot of these people lost everything and have kids, some are elderly. It’s crazy!”

The shelter is located in Missouri, and those in need can reach out to Wright via direct message on Instagram at @outthespotlight or email her at mzbizenterprises@gmail.com.

Wright is also seeking partnerships with organizations to expand her outreach.

Wright’s story is one of resilience and redemption. Once incarcerated for her involvement in a multi-million dollar ATM heist, she has since rebuilt her life and business, becoming known as “The Lady That Bought the Bank.”

She purchased the Great Southern Bank building in Miller, Missouri, in 2022 with plans to turn it into a digital financial institution.

Today, she is using that same space to provide temporary housing for those in need.

In addition to housing Hurricane Helene victims, Wright is willing to use her other commercial properties for shelter and other community assistance.
