Representative Jasmine Crockett called out the blatant hypocrisy of Republicans criticizing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives while President-elect Donald Trump relies on his “good old boy system” to select cabinet members.

On Wednesday, November 13, Crockett discussed this contradiction during an appearance on CNN, following Trump’s announcement of his nomination of former Florida Representative Matt Gaetz for Attorney General.

“I mean, we are just in unchartered territory. But if anybody is surprised, then I say you haven’t been paying attention,” Crockett said Wednesday. “Because the reality is that we have someone that is not qualified, morally or otherwise, to be president of the United States. So why would his appointments be qualified?”

“These are people that have railed against diversity, equity, inclusion, trying to say that diverse candidates are somehow not qualified,” she continued. “But the reality is that what they want to do is more of this, is put people that are not qualified in and say, ‘Well, you know what? Because he’s my homeboy, he is qualified.’ That’s not enough. That is what the ‘good old boy system’ has always been about, and it’s why we have not ever reached our maximum potential.”

In October, Shine My Crown reported that Rep. Crockett didn’t think Trump had what it took to tell the truth.

In an interview on MSNBC interview, the former attorney said  “Even those people that are in need in North Carolina, or Georgia, or Tennessee, or whatever state, Florida, that they’re in need, they literally are harming themselves because he does not have the ability to tell the truth about what it takes to get help, and he thinks it’s going to help him in the campaign.”

She continued: “At the end of the day, you cannot say that you’re a leader when you’re absolutely seeking to harm people, and that’s who he is.”
