Ayesha Curry is making headlines again because she never wanted marriage or children before meeting Steph Curry.
During her appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, she sparked a conversation by revealing that marriage and motherhood were never part of her original plans. “I didn’t want kids. I didn’t want to get married. I thought I was going to be a career girl and that’s it,” she admitted. “I was never the little girl that dreamt about the wedding dress and all of that. And then it happened so early in my life.”
She opened up about her husband, Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors star, noting that he struggles to fully grasp her feelings on the matter. “He tries to resonate with me, but he just can’t,” she said. “He comes from a place of like, ‘It’s not true, so why?’ And I’m like, ‘But listen to how it makes me feel.'”
Although Ayesha and Stephen have been celebrated as a power couple in the NBA, Ayesha reflected on the challenges of adapting to motherhood, especially since they had their first daughter early in their marriage. “After my daughter turned one, I remember there being a shift, like, I love being a mom, but I love doing other things too,” she explained. “If you lose all the things that made you confident and cool, then what are you doing?”
As expected, social media had varied reactions. Some praised her for her honesty, saying she articulated feelings that many women often keep to themselves. Conversely, others criticized her comments as “tone-deaf,” suggesting that she tends to generate controversy through her candidness.
