Cardi B knows firsthand of the hardships of being a female rapper and the criticism that comes with it.

The rapper has been called out more than just a few times over her overtly sexual music and the way that she openly embraces her sexuality.

A fan posted a video of one of Cardi’s best performances. The post was retweeted by another fan, who wrote, “Unrelated but; I hate how Women rappers can perform & have whole ass choreography routines & still get criticized & picked apart while men rappers just walk around in one circle, jump up & down, giving the bare minimum with no criticism @ all.”

Cardi saw the tweet and decided to weigh in:

“Female rappers have to bust their ass on performances ,great visuals, hours on make up ,hours on hair ,pressure by the public to look perfect, make great music and yet are The most disrespected,” she wrote. “It’s always they not good enough, what’s new? It’s boring,Why her not me.”

The history-making rapper received the most backlash when she released her single and video, “WAP.”

Politicians, pundits and even some of her rap peers had a lot to say about the offering.

“The people that the song bothers are usually conservatives or really religious people, but my thing is I grew up listening to this type of music,” explained Cardi during Australian radio show “The Kyle and Jackie O Show, ” last summer. “Other people might think it’s strange and vulgar, but to me it’s almost like really normal, you know what I’m saying?”

She also acknowledged that the track, which hit the top Billboard spot, was what people wanted to hear.

“You wanna know something? It’s what people wanna hear. If people didn’t wanna hear it, if they were so afraid to hear it, it wouldn’t be doing as good,” said Cardi.
