Political commentator Candace Owens is criticizing remarks made by Erika Kirk about her role as the primary financial provider for her children following the death of her husband, Charlie Kirk.
Owens addressed the comments during the March 5 episode of her podcast series Bride of Charlie, where she challenged Kirk’s claim that she is now “the sole provider” for her family.
Erika Kirk, who serves as chief executive officer of Turning Point USA, previously said at a public event that she had taken on that role after her husband was fatally shot in September.

Owens argued that the description misrepresented Charlie Kirk’s financial planning and legacy.
“It frustrates me because what it truly does is it discounts who Charlie was—how genius he was, how financially savvy he was,” Owens said during the episode.
She suggested that framing the situation in that way makes it appear as though the late activist had not prepared financially for his family.
Owens claimed Kirk’s family would have received substantial financial support through life insurance and other assets.
“Erika was set to receive $10 million from his work policy,” Owens alleged. “So this is an insult to Charlie because it implies he had nothing, did not have their affairs at all.”
The commentator also suggested that additional financial support had been raised through donations and assistance from supporters, including media personality Tucker Carlson.
Owens further criticized what she described as attempts to portray Erika Kirk as facing the same financial struggles as other single parents, pointing to what she said were signs of continued wealth and resources.
Neither Erika Kirk nor representatives from Turning Point USA had publicly responded to Owens’ remarks as of publication.
The exchange highlights ongoing public scrutiny and debate surrounding the financial and personal circumstances of high-profile political figures and their families.
