Former Vice President Kamala Harris offered her clearest indication yet that she may seek the presidency again, telling attendees at the 2026 National Action Network Convention that she is actively considering a 2028 bid.

“Listen, I might, I might. I’m thinking about it,” Harris said in a conversation with civil rights leader Al Sharpton, drawing loud applause and chants of “run again” from the audience. Harris, who was the Democratic nominee in 2024, framed her deliberation as grounded in experience and urgency.

Reflecting on her tenure as vice president, Harris emphasized her proximity to presidential decision-making. “I know what the job is. And I know what it requires,” she said, citing time spent in the Oval Office and Situation Room. Her remarks suggest a candidate weighing both readiness and the broader political moment.

Since leaving office, Harris has maintained a visible public profile, releasing a memoir in late 2025 and touring the country, particularly in Southern states. Though she previously told Stephen Colbert she did not want to “go back in the system,” she later signaled continued ambition, telling Laura Kuenssberg, “I am not done.”

Harris also used the मंच to criticize President Donald Trump, particularly his foreign policy decisions. She described the administration’s conflict with Iran as a “choice” and warned that strained relationships with NATO allies could harm U.S. interests. “It keeps me up at night,” she said.

The convention doubled as an early showcase for potential 2028 contenders, including Josh Shapiro, Wes Moore, Pete Buttigieg, and others. While many sidestepped direct answers about their presidential ambitions, they highlighted policy achievements and pledged focus on the 2026 midterms.

Despite the speculation, a common thread emerged: party unity and electoral success in the near term. Still, Harris’s remarks stood out for their candor. If the early contours of the 2028 race are beginning to take shape, her voice is already firmly in the mix.
