Music mogul Swizz Beatz just threw the ultimate graduation pool party for his son, Kasseem Dean Jr., who’s officially “Mr. NYU” now.
The Dean family turned up in full force for KJ’s big day, with Swizz, Alicia Keys, and KJ’s mom, Mashonda, all there to cheer on the NYU-bound grad.
But here’s the best part: while Kasseem Jr. celebrated his high school milestone, dad Swizz Beatz wasn’t just mingling. He was caught red-handed by Alicia Keys, pulling double duty as both the DJ and the party lifeguard, delivering a masterclass in modern co-parenting and a seriously adorable family moment.
On Sunday (May 25), the superproducer himself gave us all the deets on Instagram, sharing a carousel of photos from the epic bash. Kasseem Jr., who just turned 18, was surrounded by his incredible blended family, including his mom, Mashonda Tifrere, his stepmom, Alicia Keys, and his siblings, Egypt (14), Genesis (10), Nicole (17), and his older brother, Prince (24). Balloons proudly declared, “Congrats, Kasseem,” as guests took turns having fun and even dunking each other underwater.
Nicole even surprised her half-brothers by showing up towards the end of the event!
Swizz, born Kasseem Daoud Dean, shared his unique party role in the caption: “@yayachronicles gassed us up to let him have the graduation pool party,” he wrote. “I said yes because he’s been amazing and totally deserves it, MR NYU. I had the honor of playing lifeguard and the DJ from my phone. The last slide is my fav. Congrats to the class of 2025”.
This celebration is a big deal for Kasseem Jr., who found out back in December that he’d been accepted into New York University. And it’s a sweet full-circle moment, as his dad, Swizz Beatz, was named a Producer in Residence at NYU’s Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music all the way back in 2010. Like father, like son, heading to the same prestigious institution.
Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys, who tied the knot in 2010, truly have mastered the art of blending their families. They share two children together, Egypt Daoud and Genesis Ali, alongside Swizz’s three children from previous relationships: Prince Nasir, Kasseem Jr., and Nicole.
Being a father hasn’t always been easy, as Swizz admitted to PEOPLE in 2011: “It makes you grow up real quick. Because now you start making decisions based on how you want your kids to make decisions.”
Kasseem Jr., born on Dec. 22, 2006, to Swizz and ex-wife Mashonda Tifrere, goes by the nickname KJ and has clearly benefited from this incredible family dynamic.
