Shortly after the former Bachelorette’s husband, Bryan Abasolo, filed for divorce, Rachel Lindsay addressed the “difficult time” she is experiencing.
Rachel Lindsay spoke on the end of her marriage at the start of Friday’s episode of her podcast Higher Learning with Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay.
According to court documents, Bryan Abasolo filed for divorce on Tuesday in Los Angeles, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the grounds for the split.
The 43-year-old chiropractor is seeking spousal support in addition to his request to terminate the court’s ability to reward spousal support to Lindsay.
He also wants ownership rights for his shared properties with her, including a residence in North Hollywood.
In the latest episode of Lindsay’s joint podcast with Van Lathan, Lindsay addressed those who have “reached out” to her about 15 seconds into the episode.
“I didn’t think I would get emotional… First off, I just want to say thank you to the people who reached out. I’m still trying to reply to people. You just never know how great your circle is until you see all the people that reach out and love you,” she began.
The first Black Bachelorette continued, “Obviously it’s a difficult time, if you’ve read the headlines, and you’re probably wondering why I would even work. But to be honest with you, I need to distract myself from myself, and the best way to do that is to do something that I love. And I love ‘Higher Learning.”
Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo met on season 13 of ABC’s reality dating show, “The Bachelorette”, after the chiropractor caught her attention out of 31 suitors who competed for her affection.
Lindsay opted not to go into full detail on the show. But she promised to “eventually, but now is not the time, just trying to take it day by day.”
