Beyoncé is stepping back onto the Met Gala carpet, and not just as a guest but as a 2026 co-chair. Yes, the Queen is returning to reclaim her throne at fashion’s biggest night, and the culture is already buzzing.

The last time Beyoncé graced the Met steps was way back in 2016. Fans still remember the moment she floated in wearing that unforgettable latex Givenchy Haute Couture gown by Riccardo Tisci. The soft pink, bead-embellished look fit her like a second skin, instantly dominating the night and cementing itself as one of the decade’s most iconic Met Gala looks.

And then silence. For ten long years, the BeyHive has been waiting for her return.

That wait is almost over.

On Wednesday, December 10th, the Costume Institute announced this year’s co-chairs: Beyoncé, tennis legend Venus Williams, and Hollywood favorite Nicole Kidman. They’ll join Zoë Kravitz and Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello, setting the tone for a night that’s already shaping up to be a cultural moment.

The Met didn’t stop there. The event’s committee is star-studded, featuring heavy hitters like Doja Cat, Misty Copeland, Paloma Elsesser, Teyana Taylor, and A’ja Wilson. A lineup that screams range, creativity, and pure Black excellence sprinkled throughout.

This Met Gala is more than a red carpet return. It’s a milestone for the museum itself. On May 10th, the Met will open its brand-new Condé Nast Galleries, and the first exhibition to grace the space is this year’s theme: “Costume Art.” The theme explores the body as a living canvas, merging fashion with the full sweep of Western art history. With more than 200 works included, the show aims to challenge how we see clothing, not just as something we wear, but as art that moves, breathes, and tells a story.

If Beyoncé’s past is any indication, she’s about to take that theme and elevate it into something unforgettable. Her 2016 Manus x Machina look aligned perfectly with the night’s futuristic “Fashion in an Age of Technology” theme. She delivered then, and with her now stepping in as co-chair, expectations are sky-high. Fans are already predicting that her 2026 appearance might be the most talked-about Met Gala moment in years.

And honestly, they might be right.
