Candace Owens says her husband, a white man named George Farmer, was chosen because “he’s one of the most brilliant people ever.”

During her time on “The Breakfast Club” on March 21, host Charlamagne Tha God questioned Candace on her views about the Black family, especially since she was married to a white man.

He explained that some people believe Black people should marry within their race to help the group’s economic stability.

“I want to go back to something you said earlier,’ cuz I know a lot of people hear you say, ‘Well Candace, you’re speaking a lot about, you know, the Black family, but then you married a white man. Dr. Umar would have a huge problem with that. Are you familiar with Dr. Umar?'” he asked her.

Side note: Dr. Umar is a Pan-Africanist known for opposing interracial marriage. He believes Black men should be with Black women to increase economic wealth for Black families.

Although Owens said she was unfamiliar with Dr Umar’s argument, she brought up the case of Loving v. Virginia, the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that ended laws that banned marriage between people of different races.

“It’s always very interesting to me to hear this paradox of Black people who will make an argument that, you know, the system is racist and then also make an argument like this. “”Which is essentially making an argument for the Supreme Court to revisit Virginia versus love and basically say that Black Americans and white Americans shouldn’t be marrying,” she replied.

She continued, “People tend to marry their IQ. I fell in love with my husband just because he’s one of the most brilliant people ever.” Owens said there was no other person she could have married because her husband could effortlessly dive into any subject.

Candance Owens added that her mind is too brilliant for just anybody to handle.

“I have a mind that is just…if you even knew half the things I’m thinking about, the stuff that I’m reading, just go go go all the time; it was difficult for me to find a partner that was a challenge to me. The challenge that I needed, whether you want to say an academic challenge or whatever it is…with my same interests, it just was.”

Why did you get married?
