Love is in the air, and Ciara and Russell Wilson are taking credit for bringing Normani and NFL star DK Metcalf together! The R&B superstar and her NFL quarterback husband couldn’t contain their excitement as they congratulated Normani and DK Metcalf on their recent engagement, especially since they played matchmaker in the first place.
The “Wild Side” singer and the newly traded wide receiver are officially engaged, and the proposal story is straight out of a fairytale. During a press conference on Thursday (March 14), Metcalf, 27, couldn’t contain his excitement when reporters asked about the engagement. Instead of a simple “yes,” he turned to Normani, who was sitting in the audience, and proudly declared, “Hold that ring up, baby!”
Normani, 27, flashed her stunning engagement ring to the room, confirming what fans had been buzzing about for weeks.
The love story traces back to 2020, when Ciara and her husband, Russell Wilson, introduced the pair. Metcalf has previously credited the couple for sparking the romance, calling them “the ultimate matchmakers.”
Ciara took to Instagram to celebrate the engagement, sharing a heartfelt post:“@RussellWilson and I knew when we introduced y’all 3 years ago… love was truly in the air. Now, y’all gonna be booed up forever. This was the best news. @DKMetcalf @normani, we love y’all so much.”
The post included a throwback photo of the foursome, capturing the moment Normani and Metcalf shared their happy news with the couple.
Normani and DK Metcalf have mainly kept their relationship private since dating rumors began in June 2022, when they were seen together at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, California. They officially revealed their romance to the public in 2023, although neither of them often shares posts regarding their relationship on social media.
Metcalf later shared with journalists that he had been intending to propose for some time, but the hectic schedule of the former Fifth Harmony member required him to think outside the box. Rather than hurrying, he opted for a more considerate method, sending her flowers, each accompanied by a note, until the final message on the last flower was ‘Will you marry me?’ And she agreed.
