Two little words sent shockwaves through Wendy Williams’ courtroom showdown and had fans everywhere clutching their pearls. According to TMZ, things got messy real fast during a guardianship hearing this week, and the judge’s tone? Let’s just say it wasn’t exactly daytime TV-friendly.
Wendy, the queen of talk, the woman who once pulled in over 2 million viewers a day and redefined celebrity gossip with just a smirk and a sip of tea, showed up in court on Thursday, and from the jump, the energy was off.
Judge Lisa Sokoloff wasn’t holding back. Sources say she snapped at Wendy’s niece, Alex Finnie, accusing her of leaking info to the press and even threatening sanctions if it happened again.
The headline moment came when Judge Sokoloff reportedly turned to Wendy herself, and even though Judge Sokoloff mentioned that she had an impressive career previously, those times have passed. Furthermore, she expressed, “It’s done.” Her remark seemed to lack any explanation, leaving Wendy utterly heartbroken.
The courtroom tension didn’t stop there. Insiders claim the judge also came for Wendy’s family, throwing shade and suggesting they weren’t exactly saints either.
The 60-year-old talk show host made an appearance on Good Day New York on Tuesday, March 11, after being taken from her assisted living facility to the hospital the previous day. Joining the live segment from her hospital bed, Williams stated that she underwent mental competency evaluations following her dementia diagnosis in 2023 and asserts that she is “cognitively impaired.”
“I passed with flying colors!” she claimed.
Her caregiver, Ginalia Monterrosa, was with her at the hospital, and Williams requested that she “expand on all the details.”
“She had those tests. She’s been deemed she is not incapacitated,” Monterrosa told the show’s anchor, Rosanna Scotto. “I think it’s great news, and it’s public, and everybody knows factually that Wendy’s not incapacitated.”
The attorney representing Sabrina Morrissey, the court-appointed guardian for Williams, stated in a letter to TMZ that stories in the media regarding Williams’ supposedly isolated environment at the Lenox Hill facility are “untrue, inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading.”
Wendy Williams, aged 60, was given a court-appointed guardian following a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia, a degenerative condition that leads to memory impairment and has been residing on the fifth floor of the facility in Manhattan.
