Tiffany Davis, a former South Carolina women’s basketball player and national champion, is stepping into a new leadership role as the next head coach of the Abington Friends School girls’ basketball program.
The school, located in suburban Philadelphia, announced the hire via social media, signaling a new era for the struggling program that hopes to reclaim its former glory. The Roos previously reached their peak during the 2019–2020 season when they secured a state championship.
Davis, a native of Texas, brings both high-level playing experience and resilience to the role. She signed with the University of South Carolina in the Class of 2012 and played five seasons under head coach Dawn Staley, battling injuries throughout her collegiate career.
Despite being limited to 70 games and averaging 1.9 points and one rebound in just under nine minutes of play per game, Davis became known for her team-first attitude and exceptional character.

Her final season was one for the history books—she was part of the Gamecocks’ 2016–2017 national championship team. Davis appeared in the closing minutes of the title game against Mississippi State, a symbolic moment in a season filled with grit and triumph.
Though she was eligible for a sixth season due to medical hardship, she ultimately chose to close the chapter on her playing career after that championship.
Davis shared the court with Gamecock legends like A’ja Wilson, Alaina Coates, Allisha Gray, Ty Harris, Kaela Davis, and Mikiah Herbert Harrigan. She also played alongside Khadijah Sessions, now an assistant coach on Dawn Staley’s staff at South Carolina.
Now, Davis is ready to channel her experience and passion into rebuilding the Abington Friends program.
