Holly Robinson Peete is clapping back after a Hallmark executive allegedly labeled her and fellow actress Lacey Chabert “too old” for leading roles on the network, according to a recent lawsuit filed by former Hallmark casting director Penny Perry.
In the lawsuit, the former Senior Vice President of Talent and Casting claims Hallmark’s VP of Programming, Lisa Hamilton Daly, made dismissive remarks about Peete and Chabert, referring to them as “old talent” who should be “replaced” as they age.
Addressing these alleged comments with grace and humor, Peete appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show, sharing a clip of herself dancing through the studio hallway in a chic red suit.
In the Instagram post captioned “Not bad for an OLD gal 😂👵🏽,” Peete threw subtle shade at Hallmark with a playful response to the criticism.
Fans rallied behind her, celebrating her confidence and calling her “stunning” and “vintage,” while others directly criticized Hallmark for age discrimination.
Hallmark has since responded to the lawsuit by stating that both Peete and Chabert “have a home at Hallmark,” denying the allegations but refraining from further comment on the legal case.
Peete, a longtime face of Hallmark’s family-friendly movies, reminded fans that she remains dedicated to her work, demonstrating that her “longevity” and talent are here to stay.
