A heartfelt appeal circulating on TikTok is urging residents of District of Columbia, Maryland and Virgina or the DMV community to assist women living in the Harriet Tubman Women’s Shelter in Washington, D.C.
Organizer Mia and TikTok user @Allthateyeam are calling for donations and volunteers to address urgent needs.
According to the video, residents of the shelter are facing severe shortages of food, toiletries, and other essentials required for daily living.
The recent donation drive held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, was a step in the right direction, but the shelter continues to require ongoing support to ensure the well-being of its residents.
“These women are not receiving the essentials they need to survive, not just as women, but as human beings,” @Allthateyeam shared in their post.
For those who missed the event, the shelter is still in need of donations and volunteers. Items such as clothing, shoes, blankets, towels, undergarments, and toiletries remain critical. Food donations and assistance with distribution are also welcomed.
The Harriet Tubman Women’s Shelter serves as a vital resource for vulnerable women in the community.
However, it cannot operate effectively without the help of the public. Community members are encouraged to organize their own donation drives or reach out to local shelters to offer support.
“Please come out and help the community. Nobody deserves to live in conditions like this,” the TikTok post appealed.
For more information or to coordinate ongoing support efforts, community members can contact local organizers or reach out directly to shelter staff. Together, we can make a lasting difference for those in need.
