Insecure creator Issa Rae has announced that the show will come to an end after the fifth season.

Rae took to social media to thank viewers for their unwavering support.

“Very excited to film our fifth and final season! We couldn’t have told a complete story without the tremendous support of our audience and the faith of @HBO. See y’all soon! #InsecureHBO,” she tweeted.

The multi-talented actress also released the following statement to Deadline:

“Prentice and I are so grateful that HBO believed in our show from the beginning and kept faith in us to see our vision through the end, she said of the Emmy nominated comedy she executive produces with Prentice Penny.

“We always planned to tell this story through five seasons, but we couldn’t have made it this far without the tremendous support of our audience,” Rae added. “I feel blessed beyond measure to bring our characters’ stories to an end, on-screen at least.”

Insecure centers on pair of best friends, Issa (Rae) and Molly (Yvonne Orji), navigating life in Los Angeles. The show went on to win an Emmy at last year’s awards and was renewed in May for a fifth season. According to Rae, table reads for the season kicked off in September.

“I think different in a way that the audience will expect and won’t expect,” she told CNN in June. “It’s definitely going to showcase some different sides to our characters. We’re trying something new next season that I’m excited about.”

We will miss the show, but we are excited for the fifth and final season.
