Kehlani recently opened up about the harassment she faced after using her platform to share political views, particularly her support for Palestine.

During a recent interview on The Breakfast Club, the 2026 Grammy nominee revealed that she received “highly organized” death threats during her performances, a situation that escalated beyond typical online criticism.

“It really impacted my safety, my family relationships, and my friendships,” Kehlani explained, adding that the fear she experienced made her feel paranoid whenever she stepped outside. She questioned, “Was everyone out to get me?” and wondered whether she needed security just to relax at home.

The nature of the threats was particularly alarming. Kehlani described them as “highly organized, typed-out, detailed death threats.” She believes that when only a few voices speak out, they become easier targets for those who want to silence them. “It’s simple to go after one or two people. But if many people speak up, who can they go after?”

Despite the risks, Kehlani has drawn strength from her music. Her hit song “Folded” has garnered significant attention, racking up Grammy nominations for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance.

“If we have the guts to take risks and then see others succeed despite fears, it can inspire us to be braver,” she noted. Kehlani wants her journey to show fellow artists that they can flourish even when faced with backlash, although she acknowledges that some doors may close due to the realities of activism.
