Kamala Harris Says She’s Working To Earn The Black Man’s Vote

Vice President Kamala Harris, speaking at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) conference, addressed the importance of earning the Black male vote.

According to she remains committed to policies that support economic opportunities for Black men.

In response to questions about her outreach to this demographic, Harris stressed that Black men, like any other voting group, should not be assumed to be loyal to any party or candidate without a clear demonstration of support for their specific needs.

“I think it’s very important to not operate from the assumption that Black men are in anybody’s pocket,” Harris remarked. “Black men are like any other voting group—you’ve got to earn their vote. So I’m working to earn the vote, not assuming I’m going to have it because I am Black.”

Harris further explained that her policies and perspectives are aimed at addressing the needs of all communities, including Black men.

Specifically, she highlighted her work on creating economic opportunities.

Even before being on the presidential ticket, Harris launched what she called an “economic opportunity tour” that focused on empowering Black men through economic initiatives.

She reiterated that her goal is to be a leader for all people, with a particular focus on expanding opportunities for underserved communities.

As the 2024 election cycle approaches, Harris’ remarks underscore her efforts to solidify support from Black men, a key voting bloc that political analysts say could influence the outcome of future elections.
