Keyshia Cole’s Mother, Frankie Lons, Sadly Passes Away

Frankie Lons, the mother of singer and talk show host Keyshia Cole, has sadly passed away.

B Scott reports that Frankie overdosed at her Oakland home while celebrating her 61st birthday on Sunday. Cole’s brother told the outlet that Frankie relapsed after a long battle with sobriety.

Last year, the “Love” singer took to Instagram to praise her mother for checking herself into rehab.

“Happy YOU DECIDED ON YOUR OWN, to check YOURSELF INTO a facility to get treatment,” she captioned a picture of her, Frankie and her two sons, Daniel Hiram Gibson Jr. and Tobias Khale. “It’s only been two weeks but, I’m trying to be hopeful and optimistic 🙃 Maybe that’s what’ll make THIS TIME different. This being what YOU WANTED AND NO ONE ELSE…….. Maybe this is the YEAR IN ALL ASPECTS !!!!! GREATNESS.”

The year prior, the singer took to social media to share her heartbreak over her mother’s relapse.

“Every time my mom relapse, it breaks my heart more than it’s already been broken,” Cole wrote on Instagram last August. “I’m hoping, if any of u are dealing with a family member who’s battling with drug addiction, that you, yourself are learning how to cope with the struggle of it all. And all the pain it brings to see a loved one constantly relapsing. See them go back to the streets Because that’s what they’re used to, or would rather be. I really miss you! And will always love u.”

But kicking an addiction is not an easy thing to do. Eighty-five percent of individuals relapse within a year of treatment, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

Viewers witnessed some of those experiences while watching “Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is.”

Social media has been sending their condolences to Cole and her family.

ShinemyCrown sends love and light her way at this difficult time.
