Michelle Obama Dishes on PDA with Hubby Barack Obama

by Xara Aziz

Our forever First Lady Michelle Obama is still making her way across the country while on her press tour to promote her recently released book, The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times, and her candid conversations about life in the White House is giving Americans a glimpse into what it’s really like to live at the official residence and workplace of the president of the United States.

On a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Mrs. Obama said that whenever she and President Barack Obama would show public displays of affection, Secret Service wouldtend to turn. They tend to look away.”

She explained that it wasn’t easy having high-security detail around her for more than 13 years, but after a while, she grew to have gratitude for their service and protection.

“You get adjusted to it,” she said. “And the Secret Service agents, they are like our family.”

The hardest part, she said, was explaining to her daughters Malia, 24, and Sasha, 21, why they were there.

“I had to tell my girls this, throughout the White House, you don’t complain about this,” she lamented. “This is what service is. This part of it. It was an honor to serve, and there’s shortcomings that come with it. There’s sacrifices. But I’m not going to complain when people are serving in the military and they have real hardships, and there are military families and families who are struggling, I’m not going to complain about Secret Service.”

Now that life is (kinda, sorta) back to normal, the 58-year-old who has been married to Mr. President, 61, for 30 years says the couple is now enjoying their time of relaxation.

“There’s tons of boring times, which we love!” she said on Jimmy Kimmel Live!“After eight years in the White House, you want desperately to have—to celebrate the boring times.”
