Mo’Nique ripped into fellow comedian D.L. Hughley over a disagreement over a headlining contract.
D.L. Hughley and Mo’Nique were both slated to perform at The Comedy Explosion at the Fox Theater in Detroit, Michigan. However, on stage, Mo’Nique told the audience that she was the headliner but somehow, she and Hughley did not see eye to eye over the contract details.
“That’s what the motherf-cking contract says. ‘Mo’Nique is to be the last motherf-cking person on the got d-mn stage. She is the headliner. That’s what I signed the contract for,” said Mo’Nique.
She continued: “What kind of real n-gga would ever attack a got d-mned Black woman? N-gga your name is D.L., what the f-ck does it stand for? How far are you bending over n-gga? On the DL.”
Hughley’s full name is Darryl Lynn Hughley.
He has not responded.
It’s hasn’t all been bad news for Mo’Nique.
Earlier this month, it was announced that the Academy Award-winning actress and comedian has been tapped to the cast of the second season of the Starz drama “BMF.”
According to Deadline, Mo’Nique will portray sassy strip club owner, Goldie. Goldie will join forces with the Flenory brothers, which will help fuel their migration from Detroit to Atlanta.
Returning cast members for the season include Russell Hornsby (as Charles Flenory), Michole Briana White (as Lucille), Myles Truitt (as B-Mickie) and Steve Harris (as Detective Bryant); Snoop Dogg, Arkeisha “Kash Doll” Knight and Serayah will continue in recurring roles.
The announcement came after 50 Cent vowed to un-blackball the comedian.
Mo’Nique has claimed she was blackballed and that director Lee Daniels gave her the news over the phone.
“I got a phone call from Lee Daniels maybe six or seven months ago. And he said to me, ‘Mo’Nique, you’ve been blackballed.’ And I said, ‘I’ve been blackballed? Why have I been blackballed?’ And he said, ‘Because you didn’t play the game,'” she claimed at the time.
