An Indianapolis mother alleges a horrifying encounter with her daughter’s hair stylist turned violent over a tip dispute.
AJ Haley recounted the incident to 13WTHR News, stating that her 6-year-old daughter’s stylist tried to force her way into their vehicle after not receiving a tip for braiding the child’s hair.
Video footage of the incident shows the stylist pulling at the car’s door handle while the young girl screams in the backseat.
Haley explained her frustration stemmed from the service taking 10 hours, far longer than the usual 3 to 4 hours. She claims the stylist became aggressive after Haley voiced her dissatisfaction.
When Haley tried to leave the shop, she alleges a group of the stylist’s friends, armed with guns, surrounded her. One of the friends then cut the braids out of her daughter’s hair.
The stylist countered by claiming that Haley had brought another woman to the shop to confront her. However, Haley clarified that the woman was simply the child’s aunt who happened to be in the car.
Reflecting on the traumatic experience, Haley said:
“My heart just broke. My heart broke in that moment because I just feel as a mom, I was just supposed to protect her, and as a mother, I felt like I failed when all I was trying to do was protect her.”
As of now, it is unclear if any charges will be filed in connection with the incident.
