Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka has announced that she and rapper Cordae have ended their relationship after 5 years of dating.
Naomi Osaka, the tennis sensation who has captivated millions on and off the court, has recently shared that she and rapper Cordae have chosen to end their relationship. This news comes merely a year after the couple celebrated the arrival of their daughter, Shai, in 2023.
Osaka took to her Instagram Story to share the news with her fans in a straightforward, heartfelt message. Despite the breakup, the 26-year-old made it clear that there’s “no bad blood at all” between her and Cordae.
“Hi, everyone; just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship,” Osaka began her message. “He’s a great person and an awesome dad. Honestly, I’m really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing, and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together.”
During the weekend, Osaka made it to the final of the ASB Classic in Auckland but had to retire because of an injury.
Just before finalizing the split, Osaka hinted at a significant life change in an Instagram post on Sunday (Jan. 5). Along with a collection of pictures from her beach and hiking excursions — as well as a couple of images featuring her 2025 ASB Classic Women’s Singles finalist trophy — the athlete included another written note that said:
“I’ve come to the conclusion that what’s meant for me is meant for me. Maybe certain situations occur to train my mind for what’s to come,” Naomi Osaka continued. “Maybe there’s bigger and better things on my path, and I just have to continue the journey to encounter them.”
Osaka and the “RNP” rapper initially ignited dating speculation in April 2019, just two months after Cordae publicly acknowledged their relationship in a HOT 97 interview by stating, “That’s my girl.”
Four years later, the tennis star revealed they were expecting their first child soon after she withdrew from the 2023 Australian Open; in July of that year, the couple welcomed their baby, Shai.
As reported by Billboard, Cordae started his rapping journey at the age of 15, initially releasing music under the moniker Entendre. At 21, he became part of the group YBN, where he gained fame with his cover of J. Cole’s “1985” and his remix of Eminem’s “My Name Is.” In 2019, he was recognized as a member of the XXL Freshman Class, which featured up-and-coming rappers like DaBaby, Roddy Ricch, and Megan Thee Stallion.
